After the departure of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU), commonly known as Brexit, the established framework for the development cooperation and trading relations previously signed on to within the EU context was no longer applicable to the UK. As a consequence, CARIFORUM countries and the United Kingdom negotiated a separate Economic Partnership Agreement to facilitate the seamless continuation of the relationship. The finalized new EPA was signed in 2019. Parties to the Agreement are the UK and CARIFORUM Countries (Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago).
The CARIFORUM-UK EPA is largely comparable to the CARIFORUM-EU EPA, since it was designed to ensure continuity of the trade relationship.
